ANALYSIS AND POLITICAL THEORY
THE WORST DEFEAT FOR EUROPE

Por: Leoncio Díaz (Politólogo)
Based on the course of events, the war in Ukraine was not about freedom or democracy but about resources and the enormous business that war represents. With this war, the Biden administration was able to boost the U.S. GDP, indebt Ukrainians for life, sell its gas to Europeans at three times its value, steal that market from Russia, ruin German industry, and, above all, relegate Europe’s geopolitical role in the world. On the other hand, Russia not only overcame economic sanctions but also revitalized its economy and opened new markets in Asia and the Middle East. It has shown strength against a hesitant Europe that hides behind Ukraine to "throw stones." Ultimately, Russia will emerge as the winner, determined to defend its sovereignty at all costs. Meanwhile, Europeans and their media, funded by USAID and loyal to their rhetorical cynicism, supported Obama and Biden’s Democrats in managing this war under the propaganda that, without supporting Ukraine, "Putin would invade them." In reality, in the medium term, they intended to invade Russia and divide it to seize the resources they lack for their survival. In a few years, they will cease to be the "First World"—or perhaps they already are not—since other countries are catching up, and the last thing they want is for a neighboring military power to develop economically, leading them to lose political influence and markets. All of this has come at the cost of the lives of millions of Ukrainians (millions, as Trump repeats), who believed the illusion of joining the European Union and that NATO would save them. To that end, they placed an overly ambitious clown as president, generously paid by the U.S., who almost succeeded in dragging Europe and the world into a prolonged war. But this comedic actor not only condemned his people to a tragedy that will take decades to recover from but also surrendered their resources and territory. His political adventure came at a high cost for Ukraine. On the other hand, NATO's role as a supplier of weapons and military training has been insignificant in changing the course of the war. Despite some gains on the battlefield, the alliance had to limit its involvement to prevent an escalation of the conflict; consequently, Ukraine's defeat also extends to them. Ultimately, they were not even invited to the peace negotiations table. "Western nations provided the weapons, and Ukrainians provided the flesh," Putin said in an interview with Western media. A direct confrontation never occurred; it has only been postponed until a new Democratic president in the U.S. pushes for another war adventure. Meanwhile, the arms race continues to accelerate, and they will invent a new excuse for war—likely, once again, with Ukraine or another Eastern European country eager to join the European Union as the battleground.
