One year after the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, we are witnessing a regional escalation of the conflict with its neighboring countries, which has been intensifying month after month, putting the Middle East at the gates of the greatest regional war in its history. As of today, a ceasefire is ruled out in that region of the world; Everyone hails it, but no one does anything to stop the imminent regional war that will define the new borders of Israel and its neighbors. For Israel, this scenario is not new. After the Six-Day War in 1967, his army defeated all of its enemies together in less than a week, expanding its rule to the Sinai Peninsula. This same feat was repeated in the battle of Yom Kippur in 1973, although on that occasion it was on the verge of defeat, if not for the support of the United States. Despite these two great wars with Israeli victory, they have not achieved obtain full peace to this day. What has come next are attacks, threats, military incursions, spontaneous bombings and the birth of armed groups willing to confront the powerful Israeli army. In this situation of permanent conflict, the figure of Iran stands out, an emerging regional power with which Israel has never had a permanent direct confrontation, only preventive attacks with low military impact. However, Iran has financed and armed the enemies that are currently at war against Israel: the so-called resistance axis, made up of Hezbollah, Hamas and the Houthis of Yemen. These armed groups also drag their states of origin into the conflict, including Iran itself. In that sense, tensions increased drastically when Israel assassinated Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iranian territory, which has been considered a mockery and a clear warning to the security of the great Iranian state. Iran responded with a bombing without much success, but promised to avenge the death of its ally. Israel subsequently exploded missiles in Lebanon, wounding many, and assassinated Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Iran has responded with bombing, this time with more success on targets such as Israeli air bases. What follows now is Israel's response to this attack on its territory. The intensity of this response will define a new phase of the war, where the conflict in Gaza and with the other armed groups will take a backseat.
