Have you ever heard the phrase so often repeated in academia and geopolitics: “America for the Americans”? It simply means that all the countries of North, Central, and South America MUST be under the dominance and strategic control of the United States of America. When the U.S. in the 1820s faced a possible process of recolonization by European powers, the Monroe Doctrine emerged. Among its principles was the idea of preventing foreign nations from interfering in the internal affairs of American countries. This is how the statement under discussion arose, first pronounced by President James Monroe in 1823. At first, this phrase might have seemed emancipatory against the European powers of that time or as if it promoted unity across the Americas. Moreover, the United States during the 19th century did not decisively or categorically intervene in the region. It was in the 20th century that the political and economic power of this country became evident. A new process of colonization of Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries began through tariff and commercial pressure, intervention via non-governmental organizations, infiltration into intelligence services, and, ultimately, military invasion. Modern colonization in the 20th and 21st centuries came to be led by the United States, displacing Europeans. Now, to the question: How American are the United States citizens? The answer is simple: they are not. The United States is a republic founded by British colonists and later by other European migrants, built upon the ruins of a genocide of the native peoples of North America and, until recently, the servitude of men brought from Africa. In other words, they are Europeans; they were never Americans—unless they had carried out a process of mestizaje with the original owners of the American lands. Americans are of blood (ius sanguinis) and lineage. They share thousands of years of traditions native to this continent, perhaps nowadays fused with European, African, and Asian elements. They have a particular phenotype: slanted eyes, copper-colored skin, medium stature, straight hair, and slim build, as well as remarkable physical endurance for life in high-altitude regions—especially the Americans of the Andes mountain range (spanning Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina). In conclusion, we are facing Europeans who were never truly American and never will be. Therefore, if they are not going to leave the lands they seized, they should not pretend to control the resources of the authentic and legitimate owners who still preserve them. The proposals for the so-called Latin countries (since the proper term is simply American, without any linguistic prefix) are: To begin a serious process of total industrialization to reduce economic dependence. To strengthen national identity based on millenary origins. To create or maintain economic and military ties with countries not allied with NATO. To allocate as much of the public budget as possible to national scientists. To establish a technological industry for the mass production of state-of-the-art weapons. These measures, among others, aim for the sovereign, integral development of American countries so that, at some point in history, they can negotiate on equal terms with the world powers—not only the United States, the least American of all, but also those of Asia and Europe. Of course, America for the Americans—but for the real ones.
